|Captain Chris Myers is a full time flats fishing guide specializing in sight
fishing the inshore saltwater lagoons of east central Florida. He has been
fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon for over twenty
years and spends most of his time targeting redfish, seatrout, black drum,
and tarpon. When he is not on a fishing charter, you can often find him
fishing the backcountry or inshore waters on his own or with friends.
Fishing out of a 16 foot Hewes flats boat, Captain Chris prefers to pole the
clear shallow flats of the Mosquito Lagoon and allow anglers to enjoy the
thrill of sight fishing whenever conditions permit. Using fly or light tackle
spinning gear, anglers have the chance to do battle with trophy sized fish
The captain is fully licensed by the US Coast Guard and holds a permit
required to guide inside the Canaveral National Seashore and Merritt Island
National Wildlife Refuge. He is an active member in numerous professional
organizations including the Florida Guides Association, the National
Association of Charterboat Operators, the Federation of Fly Fishers Guides
Association, and the Florida Outdoor Writers Association.
When he is not on the water, you may find Captain Chris Myers giving
seminars on fishing at tackle store, fly shops, or fishing shows. As a member
of the DOA Fishing Lures Pro-Staff, he can be seen at shows throughout
central Florida like the Florida Sportsman Fishing and Boating Expo, the
Tampa Tribune Outdoors Expo, Fishstock, and more. He also offers regular
seminars on flats fishing, fly fishing, and fly casting at Mosquito Creek
Outdoors in Apopka.
As one of the few Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructors and
fly fishing guides in the Orlando area, Capt. Chris offers free seminars on fly
fishing as well as personal fly casting lessons. Sign up for his free fishing
report and newsletter on the home page.
In addition to being a fishing guide and fishing instructor, Captain Chris has
also written and published numerous articles on flats fishing and fly fishing
in various magazines. You can find his articles and photographs each month
in Coastal Angler Magazine as well. He was selected by Ron Presely as
one of the participating captains in his book Florida's Master Anglers.
Captain Chris believes in protecting this world class fishery we have here in
central Florida known and the Mosquito Lagoon. To do his part, he has a
strict catch, photograph and release policy. This is done to make sure there
will be fish for others to enjoy in the future and to allow more fish to reach
trophy size. He is a member of the Coastal Conservation Association and
the Federation of Fly Fishers. Both of these organizations work towards
improving our fishing resources.
Captain Chris wants to be sure your fishing trip in central Florida is fun an
memorable. There will be no yelling or unprofessional behavior coming from
the back of the boat. The captain will do everything he can to make your trip
one you will want to tell all your friends and family about.
